How to get work in Hindi films and web series
Hindi films, OTT and advertising share almost the same route: preparation, the right material, steady auditions and patience. There is no shortcut.
First decide: "also" or "only"
In his first class Yogesh Mishrra asks whether you "also" want to be an actor or "only" want to be one. Acting is a long road. People who treat it as a second option stop at the first difficulty. Decide first how much time you will give it.
Training meant for the camera
Acting in OTT and films is very subtle. Choose training that teaches observation, control of emotion, voice and camera language (shot sizes, eyelines, continuity), and where you watch yourself on screen every week.
The self-tape: today's first audition
Most first auditions now happen on video. Clean light, a quiet background, the camera at eye level and clear sound are all you need. Understand the scene, record it two different ways and send the best.
Showreel and profile
Keep the showreel short, with the best scene first. In your profile, list recent photos, playing age, height, languages, dialects and special skills (dance, riding, singing).
Start with small work
Ads, short films, music videos and small web-series roles give you both experience and showreel material. Many films and web series shoot in Lucknow and Uttar Pradesh, so you can start right here.
Avoid scams
Stay away from anyone who asks for money in exchange for a role, calls you to a hotel room for an audition, or pushes an expensive portfolio on you. Look up a casting person's name and work before you go.
